Generator Service

In today's world, a generator is almost indispensable for most businesses. Whether it's a powerful winter storm that blows through, a local substation transformer overload, or a vehicle colliding with a power line, it pays to have a backup source of power when you need it.

Wagner Power Systems offers reliable power systems you can count on. From small and large on-site electric power generators, micro grid systems, and generator rentals, our selection of generators can meet your needs. Whether you are looking for backup power for your commercial business, prime power on a remote jobsite, or an industrial generator, our team can help you choose the generator you need. Below, we'll take a look at our generator service and options. Contact one of our locations in Colorado, New Mexico, or far west Texas to get started today!

A generator "creates" electricity based on principles discovered in 1832 by Michael Faraday. Known as the Father of Electricity, Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction, electrolysis and diamagnetism, which forever changed the way humans lived.

It's important to note that generators do not create electricity; instead, they use mechanical energy from the movement of electric charges in wires of electric circuits to generate the electric current. Generators harvest the flow of these currents that, in turn, allow electricity to exist. This happens by using an engine, which requires a fuel source.

Since generators use an internal combustion engine, it's not only the generator that requires regular service, but also that engine. All machines will wear down over time, so service and maintenance become crucial to their reliable operation and optimal function and performance.

For generator service, all of the parts will be checked for function and performance, as well as to ensure no parts are damaged or missing. This includes:

  • Checking on the oil. All engines require oil for lubrication to reduce wear and tear on the system.
  • Inspecting the fan and alternator belts
  • Checking the batteries, cables, and lugs. The health of your generator's battery is crucial for optimal operation.
  • Inspecting the radiator for leaks or clogs
  • Cleaning the generator parts, including the brushes and slip rings
  • Inspecting the engine control panel for any loose connections
  • Tightening the hoses and check for brittleness or cracks
  • Ensuring the air cleaner elements are in good working order
  • Starting the engine to read the gauges and adjust the RPM if necessary
  • Calibrating and cleaning transfer switches
  • And more
