WAGNER TRAINING INSTITUTE: TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE PROGRAM

COLORADO PROGRAM SCHEDULE: STARTS JULY EACH YEAR – CLASS SIZE AND LOCATION

Up to 20 students may be accepted into this program

First Year Rotation: Two weeks in class at the Community College of Aurora, two weeks in shop at Wagner Equipment Co. (as a part-time employee)

Second Year Rotation: Two weeks in class at Wagner Training Institute, two weeks at Wagner Equipment Co. (as a full-time employee)

NEW MEXICO PROGRAM SCHEDULE: STARTS AUGUST EACH YEAR – CLASS SIZE AND LOCATION

Up to 20 students may be accepted into this program

First Year Rotation: Five weeks in class at Central New Mexico (CNM) Community College, five weeks in shop at Wagner Equipment Co. (as a part-time employee)

Second Year Rotation: Five weeks in class at Wagner Training Institute, five weeks at Wagner Equipment Co. (as a full-time employee)

COSTS AND BENEFITS

Safety is our number one priority, and is reflected in training and practice.

This program is FREE to accepted applicants.

Students will be paid wages while training in a Wagner Equipment Co. shop.

If a student is sponsored by a Wagner Equipment Co. branch, lodging will be provided to them.

Colorado apprentice students receive an Associate of Diesel Power Technology upon successful graduation. New Mexico (south) apprentice students receive a CNM Diesel Equipment Technology Certificate upon successful completion of their first year.

A tool box and tools valued at $7,500 will be given to each student upon entrance into our program in exchange for a work commitment.

Students will become eligible for medical, dental, and vision within the first year, and will get paid holidays after one year.

Company uniforms will be provided.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Have a high school diploma or GED. They must be 18 years old when program starts. We will consider applicants under the age of 18 with legal guardian approval;

Pass all required pre-employment screenings, which may include but are not limited to background checks, drug/alcohol testing, fit for duty testing, and any other job-related tests/screenings;

Be mechanically inclined and have a strong desire to learn;

Pass the interview and assessment process; and

Have the ability to commit to a four-year contract.

APPRENTICE PROGRAM SUMMARY

One

YEAR ONE

Colorado: For the first year of the Apprentice Program at Wagner Equipment Co., you will be attending classes as a student at the Community College of Aurora. The program will begin with approximately four weeks of classroom lessons, followed by four weeks of practical Wagner shop experience. This classroom/shop rotation will continue for 45 weeks and will allow you to effectively transfer your classroom skills to the appropriate shop area.

New Mexico: For the first year of the Apprentice Program (South) at Wagner Equipment Co., you will be attending classes as a diesel technology student at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) in Albuquerque, NM. The program will begin with approximately five weeks of classes/labs at CNM, followed by five weeks of practical Wagner shop experience. This classroom/shop rotation will continue for 42 weeks and will allow you to effectively transfer your classroom skills to the appropriate shop area.

Two

YEAR TWO

Colorado: Upon graduation from the Community College of Aurora, you will work full time for Wagner Equipment Co. as an apprentice for the second year of the program. During the first six-month period, you will attend classes for the first two weeks at Wagner Training Institute. The following two weeks will be spent working with journeyman technicians in the assigned shop. The remaining six months will be working in your assigned shop. Upon completion of the second year, you will graduate with an Associate of Applied Science in Diesel Technology degree.

New Mexico: Upon graduation from Central New Mexico Community College, you will work full-time for Wagner Equipment Co. as an apprentice for the second year of the program. You will continue four-to-five week rotations between classes at Wagner Training Institute in Albuquerque and your assigned shop. Upon completion of the second year, you will graduate from the Apprentice Program as a Class B Service Technician.

TOOL BENEFIT

Upon entering the Apprentice Program, you are eligible to participate in a company-sponsored tool program. Wagner Equipment Co. will provide you with a set of tools and box valued at approx. $7,500 in exchange for a time commitment work agreement.
