Senator John McCain Visits Wagner Equipment Co. – Holds Town Meeting in New Equipment/Rental Shop
John McCain’s people approached Wagner “out of the blue” with a request to provide our facility as a backdrop for a major speech and town hall meeting. Less than 48 hours later, the Aurora facility hosted what one of McCain’s staff members called “the best event that he has seen in 30 years”.
Senator John McCain and his wife Cindy toured the Aurora campus with Joe Wagner, Mike Quirk, and Scott Wagner. During his tour Senator McCain visited with mechanics to learn some aspects of rebuilding engines. The tour was followed up by a formal town hall meeting consisting of 300 Wagner employees and a host of special friends of Wagner.
The town hall meeting began with opening remarks from Joe Wagner; Chairman of Wagner Equipment Co. Joe stated that he started Wagner Equipment Co in 1976 with 300 employees in 4 locations; today Wagner employs 1700 people in more than 30 locations and he is proud that Wagner is still a family owned business. Joe spoke about the energy needs of our environments and we support sustainable energy like wind and solar.
Cindy McCain introduced him, during her brief introduction she spoke of the importance of a good leader and the attributes a good leader carries.
Senator McCain delivered a 20 minute campaign speech.
He commended Wagner on the Apprentice partnership that exists between Wagner
and the local Community college in both Aurora and Albuquerque. The meeting
ended with a Q&A session from the audience. The first question posed to the
Senator was from retired Wagner VP, Dick Cahal who attended the meeting. Before leaving the facility Senator McCain and his wife Cindy
shook hands with several Wagner employees.
Although, Wagner Equipment Co. does not endorse political candidates, we accept the responsibility to support the process.
